9/3/1906Prithviraj Kapoor, veteran film actor, was born in Peshawar. His first film was 'Challenge' (1929). He is the founder of Prithvi Theatre in Bombay. He is remembered for his immortal role of Akbar is film 'Mugul-E-Azam'.
1/14/1843Fakir Mohan Senapati, great writer and nationalist, was born.
10/1/1932Indian Milatary Academy became functional with Brigadier LP Collins, DSO, OBE as the Commandant. The first course of 40 GCs had on its rolls Sam Manekshaw, Smith Dun and Mohd Musa, later to be Chiefs of the armies of their respective countries, i.e. India, Burma (now Myanmar) and Pakistan. This training was for a period of two and a half years.
