Kunduz (Afghanistan), Feb 5 (IANS) At least eight militants have been confirmed dead after a security forces' helicopter pounded Taliban hideouts in Gul Tepa district of northern Kunduz province late on Tuesday, spokesman for the provincial government Esmatullah Muradi said on Wednesday.

Seven more militants, including a senior commander, Hussain, sustained injuries, Xinhua quoted the official as saying.

Hussain, according to the official, had served as shadow district chief for the restive Dasht-e-Archi district.

Taliban militants who are operational in parts of the relatively troubled Kunduz province haven't commented.
