9/29/1981Delhi-Srinagar Indian Airlines Boeing 737 flight was diverted to Lahore, Pakistan by five Khalistan activists of the Dal Khalsa International. On board there were 117 passengers out of which 66 were freed on arrival in Lahore.
9/29/1981Admiral Dom Vasco-da-Gama (c.1469-1524)-I, Count of Vidigueira, met the Jamerin of Calicut after arriving in India three days ago at Malabar Coast. He was joined by an experienced Gujarati pilot at Malindi. He was the 6th Governor and 2nd Viceroy of India.

6/19/1901Raj Chandra Bose, Indian mathematician and statistician, was born at Hosangabad in Madhya Pradesh. He made many valuable contributions to the subject. He discovered new codes for telecommunication. In 1976, America's highest honour to a scientist came to Bose as he was elected Fellow of the US Academy of Sciences.
