Raipur, May 9 (IANS) Ajit Pramod Kumar Jogi, the first chief minister of Chhattisgarh, suffered a cardiac arrest and was hospitalised here in a critical condition on Saturday. His wife, Renu Jogi, a senior doctor, said his condition is serious but stable. He will under observation for 48 hours.
Jogi's son and former MLA Amit Jogi was in Bilaspur and returned to Raipur. He said his father began breathing hard while having breakfast. He was rushed to hospital as his condition deteriorated.
Amit Jogi said the doctors diagnosed cardiac arrest and put him on ventilator.
Jogi, who founded the Janata Congress Chhattisgarh (J), has been on wheelchair since a paralysis stroke several years ago. He celebrated his 74th birthday on April 29.
